Minecraft Dungeons II releases September 29, 2026 on Windows, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and co-op is one of its core systems from day one. Here’s what Mojang has confirmed about playing with others.

How Many Players

Minecraft Dungeons II supports a party of up to four players. The game can also be played entirely solo, so co-op is an option rather than a requirement: you can run the whole campaign alone if that’s how you want to play.

Mode Players Notes
Solo 1 Full game playable alone
Online co-op Up to 4 Cross-play between platforms
Couch co-op Up to 4 Local, same console

Online Co-op and Cross-Play

Online play supports cross-play, so players on different platforms can join the same party. Mojang’s gameplay systems article describes it as “teaming up online through cross-play,” with no mention of a platform restriction on who can group up with whom. In practice that should let friends on PlayStation 5, Switch and PC share a party, though Mojang hasn’t published a platform-by-platform matrix.

Couch Co-op

Minecraft Dungeons II also has local couch co-op, letting a party of up to four players share one console for the same session. Mojang lists it as a separate option from online play, so a local group on one console and friends playing online are both supported ways to team up.

Not Confirmed Yet

Mojang hasn’t said whether couch co-op runs on a split screen or a single shared camera for the whole party. Cross-progression (carrying a save between platforms) hasn’t been announced either. Both are open questions until Mojang confirms details closer to launch.
