A-tier ranged pick

The roll-and-shoot kiter is the ranged build for Minecraft Dungeons 2: extra dodge charges, an arrow fired on every roll and flaming shots turn defensive movement into damage. You never stand still, and you never need to be in reach.

How strong is the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter?

Grade A tier · Great

Why this grade: Three of its enchantments were shown together in an official hands-on as one synergy, and players say range is the answer to tanky blue mobs. It is A instead of S because ranged weapons are exposed once a fight gets crowded.

How do you play the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter?

Constant motion. You roll, shoot and roll again. Quivers and extra dodge charges do the damage, so you never have to trade blows.

  1. Open the rangeStart every fight at the edge of vision. Put a venomous quiver arrow on the largest target first so the poison starts working.
  2. Roll into the shotsRoll every couple of seconds, not only when hit. Each roll fires an arrow, adds to your next attack and gives you a free position change.
  3. Spend the extra chargeThe extra dodge charge lets you chain two rolls. Use the second to end up behind cover or at a new angle.
  4. Lightning on the priority targetUse Conductive Quiver on the healer or the shielded enemy, and keep firing while the strikes land.
  5. Swing only if pinnedIf something reaches you, Tornado Blade's swirl clears space, then roll out and resume.

Where does the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter shine and struggle?

Strengths

  • Damage that comes from movement, so defense and offense overlap
  • Answers blue empowered mobs, where melee does almost nothing
  • Arrows recharge automatically and boots shorten it further
  • Poison and lightning keep working when you move away

Weaknesses

  • Exposed when enemies close in from several sides
  • Poison-immune or shielded targets blunt the quiver plan
  • Needs steady dodge timing, so it takes practice

What is the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter's job in co-op?

Backline damage. Stay behind your bruisers, keep casting from range and use the rolls to dodge boss patterns. A support player next to you lets you play more aggressively.

What can you run before the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter gear drops?

Quick answers about the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter

Is a ranged build viable against empowered mobs?

It is the recommended answer. Players report blue mobs shrugging off melee, while ranged attackers can keep them at a distance and take them down safely.

Which enchantments make the roll build work?

Extra dodge charge, arrow on dodge and flaming arrows. They were shown together as a single synergy in an official preview.

Do arrows run out?

No. Arrows recharge over time, and the starter bow holds 15. Woodsprite Root Boots shorten that recharge further.

Not confirmed yet for the Roll-and-Shoot Kiter

  • Stacking rules for Double Crossers' roll bonus are not listed, so the 20% per roll cap is unknown.
  • Whether Tumbleshot and the dodge arrow enchant fire separate arrows on the same roll is untested.
