How strong is the Pack Leader Companion Build?
Why this grade: The armor bonuses for companions are real, but the summons themselves have no published damage, and three at once has not been tested. C means promising and unmeasured. It moves up as soon as numbers exist.

What is the Pack Leader Companion Build routine in a fight?
Let your team of pets do the work. You stay close, keep them alive and add a little poison and a couple of tools, and the animals carry the damage.
- Summon firstZone in with all three talismans active. Companions are passive summons, so the pack is ready before the first pull.
- Knock down, then step backBlow the horn as the pack closes and let your animals bite the group while it is down.
- Coat the targetUse Blight Bangle on the enemy your pets are already chasing so the poison stacks with their hits.
- Shield when it gets loudPlace Totem of Shielding between the pack and any ranged attackers. It protects you and the animals.
- Rest between pullsStep out of combat for five seconds. The Fly Agaric coat heals you fast while the pets recover.
Good and bad sides of the Pack Leader Companion Build
Strengths
- Three summons take attention off you
- Two armor sets are aimed squarely at companions
- Low mechanical demand, so it suits newer players
- Healing out of combat is very fast
Weaknesses
- Companion damage numbers are unpublished
- Bosses can wipe pets quickly
- Little burst, so long fights against single targets drag
How does the Pack Leader Companion Build play with friends?
Flexible hybrid. The pets add damage in the background so you can spend your attention on reviving or positioning. Not a replacement for a dedicated healer or tank.
How do you start the Pack Leader Companion Build with early gear?
| Slot | Early pick | Later | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Talisman | Tasty Bone | Prickle's Mark | The wolf is the easiest companion to get and covers the early game alone. |
| Armor | Wolfpack Jacket | Fly Agaric Coat | A themed set piece keeps the pet identity while you farm the unique. |
| Melee | Sword | Awesomeaxe | Starter melee is enough while the pets do most of the work. |
Player questions about the Pack Leader Companion Build
How do I get the wolf, golem and Prickle?
Each one comes from a talisman: Tasty Bone for the wolf, Golem Kit for the golem, and Prickle's Mark for the Prickle. Talismans replace the passive artifacts from the first game.
Can companions be upgraded?
Fly Agaric Trousers make them deal 40% more damage and Woodsprite Crown makes them take 20% less. Their own base stats are not published.
Is this a good co-op build?
It is a fun secondary build. The pack adds damage with no effort, so you can support your team while they tank and finish.
